Rain Hat (Ifugao)

Round, flat, conical, upwardly curved two-way braid; is held on the outside by a double frame made of rattan below and above the wickerwork. In the middle of the underside is a round braided bamboo strip of the same type of braid as the plate, sewn to the plate with a rattan fiber. This strip is folded out at the bottom up to half the height, i.e. doubled in order to give the hat a better hold on the wearer's head. The size of the rain hat guarantees that the rain runs off around the wearer when working in the field.
