Bamboo Beater (Pacco/Tingianen)

To beat the beat on the march.
"A peculiar device [?] Used solely by the women in the bunkaka. This consists of a bamboo tube with one end cut away so as to leave two thin vibrating strips. These, when struck against the palm of the left hand, give out a note which can be changed by placing a finger over an opening. " (Cooper Cole, Fay: The Tinguian. 1922: 441 fig. 26,2) In the piece shown, the finger hole mentioned is in the middle of the grip ladder.
