Short description
Object description: Keris [.1] with straight iron blade, carved hilt and bound grip. With a wooden sheath [.2] bound with textile, string and cane. The blade is decorated with a spur and comb that have perforations below the hilt. The hilt is slightly curved and the grip is bound with string and covered in a black substance, possibly ?resin. The sheath is made from two pieces of wood bound together at the base with split cane and below the mouth with string and red, cream and red and cream check patterned textiles. A loop of thick string that is bound beneath the red and cream check textiles. It is also carved with zigzags and diamonds on the back. [SM 03/01/2008]
