Bracelet (Tangkil)

Inventory number SA 34569
Arm jewelry of a man-made from the tusks of a boar. Men wear two of these upper arm jewelry elements during celebrations and rituals, such as the begnas ritual for growing rice. The materials originally used for the production of this jewelry are hardly available anymore. Today, however, this jewelry is often reproduced from other materials and worn, for example, at cultural festivals. Text: Prof. Dr. Leah E. Abayao, Cordillera Studies Center, UP Baguio.
