Nasal Flute (Ifugao)

Longitudinal flute with a total of four finger holes, three on the side of the flute that is held up when playing, one on the underside. A small hole cut in the bamboo growth knot forms the blowing end of the flute; the blow-out hole is open. Decorated with incised drawings of various motifs: rectangles, squares, triangles, hexagons and a central band with a war ax, shield and spear. In use, the player closes one of his nostrils and blows with the other against the edge of the blow hole of the flute.
