Shield
Text
Shield made of light wood cut from one piece. On the outside convex to the shape, the upper part has three cut-out posts and at the lower end two. The shield is decorated with recesses in low relief. On the back, a handle is cut out of what forms the convex "hump" on the front. the shield is "sewn" at the upper and lower ends with braided rattan.

Description
Heinrich Rudolph Wahlen, born 1873 in Germany, died 1970, consul and entrepreneur, owned several of the western islands in the Bismarck Archipelago in the early 20th century. He had a large mansion built on Luf Island, Hermit Group, Western Islands. He was married to Thyra and they were the parents of Viola Wahlen.
