Skirt Woman's, Sonod

Maroon, natural and brownish-black stripes and design. 2 loom pieces joined at side selvage and warp ends to make a tubular skirt. The 2 loom pieces, called "Bata" have wider design band where they are joined at selvage. This makes skirt appear like the more conventional ones (comprised of 3 loom pieces, central one "ine", is a different design from 2 "Bata" borcles. In this case the "ine" is omitted). Wp ends: cut and joined. (From card catalogue notes by Laura Watson Benedict(1861–1932) and Lisa Whitall (1926-2019), 1905)
