Rucksack (Paheeng)

Inventory number SA 33524
Braided backpack with lid and straps. It was made to comfortably carry loads over long distances that usually had to be covered by foot. It was used to store and transport personal items, food and clothing. Bags of this type are no longer widespread among the Ifugao, as they have been replaced by standard fabric and leather backpacks. Today such objects are made to sell to tourists. Text: Prof. Dr. Leah E. Abayao, Cordillera Studies Center, UP Baguio.
