Carrying Bag

Shoulder bag.

Rectangular bag, woven in geometric design reminiscent of ikat, with vegetable fiber (sisal or sinnet) plaited cord attached along bottom edge and at top of either side to form straps. The upper half of the front panel is covered with brown cloth, over which is a criss-cross design of red ribbon strips. In the interstices of this criss-cross are red and yellow chain embroidery and tiny metal and/or shell sequins. The red ribbon strips are beaded with white pony beads. These same beads are also embroidered along the sides of the bag. There are several groups of bead dangles with floss tassels hanging from the sides and the bottom of the decorative panel. There are additional bead appliques on the surface under the panel.
