Woman's Blouse

Blouse for female use. Clothing is influenced by numerous factors such as social class, beliefs, climate and flora. In the past, clothing was very different between the different ethnic groups, and it also symbolized belonging to a certain group, town or social class. Among the popular classes, clothing was made of cotton, abaca or bark cloth. Men's clothing generally consisted of a shirt and pants or a loincloth. Characteristic features of women's bukidnon clothing are a voluminous, and not narrow skirt, and a rather long male shirt. Generally the garments are made of cotton and the decorative motifs are applied with fabrics of different colors and are complemented with embroidery.

Provenance
The main nucleus of the collections of the Philippines and the Marianas and Carolinas Islands of the National Museum of Anthropology come from the exhibition that was held on these places in Madrid, with the naturalist Domingo Sánchez being responsible for the Commission in Manila. The exhibition opened on June 30, 1887 at the Palacio de la Minería -now the Palacio de Velázquez- and at the Palacio de Cristal in the Retiro Park. Then the objects went to the Overseas Library Museum, created in 1887 to house the objects of the Monographic Exhibition on the Philippines, Marianas and Carolinas and other later special and periodic products from the overseas colonies, and settling in the Palace of the Mining.
