Basket

Basket ("agawin"); made of fibre; piece of wood, bent into shape of square for bottom frame; basket made of fibre sewn to frame, plaited on bottom, twined on sides which slope out gently and then in sharply at neck to round neck opening; neck opening reinforced with stick twisted into circle and held in place with copper wire; twisted fibre cord sewn on either side for carrying handle. 1940s-1950s
Curators comments:
Worn at the waist by women working in the rice fields and used for collecting edible snails, fish etc.
