A Lima half-crown. Obverse: Bust of George II (left), laureate, long hair, cloak over armour. Legend: 'GEORGIUS . II . DEI . GRATIA .' Below: 'LIMA.' Reverse: Four crowned shields, forming with the Star of the garter a St. George's Cross. Upper: England and Scotland. Right: France. Legend: 'M . B . F . ET . H . REX . F . D . B . ET . L . D . S . R . I . A . T . ET . E . 1745'. (George the Second, by the Grace of God King of Great Britain, France and Ireland, Defender of the Faith, Duke of Brunswick and Luneburg, Chief Treasurer and Elector of the Holy Roman Empire). Inscribed on edge: 'DECVS . ET . TVTAMEN . ANNO . REGNIS . DECIMO . NONO.' Part of the currency struck from the Spanish silver captured by Admiral Lord George Anson (1697-1762) during his circumnavigation of 1740-44. It came from the galleon 'Nuestra Señora de Covadonga' which struck to Anson's ship 'Centurion' off the Philippines on 20 June 1743.
