Nils Hägg participated in the Spanish-American War and stayed in the Philippines 1901-1904 as a corporal. At the 1910 census, he is the mill treasurer, Iggesund's mill. He was married from 1914 to Maja Fredrika Collberg. He was active as an accountant and wrote down a large number of folk songs in collaboration with his uncle Jakob Adolf Hägg.
Nils Hägg was the brother of Hjalmar Oscar Hägg. Half-brother to Ernst Yngve Hägg and Axel Torgny Hägg.
