Pipe (Binang-nga Guiniling)

Brass pipe with chain and cleaner (Binang-nga Guiniling). Brass processing is most widespread among the Muslims , but from there it has also spread throughout the archipelago. The process is that the desired object is first formed by beeswax. Then this is surrounded by a sleeve of clay. When heating, the wax melts and molten brass is poured in its place. Finally, the clay is broken off. This process is called the lost wax process. This art is apparently of Asian origin. These are small pipes with an associated cleaning rod that are attached to the pipe with a chain. (Catalog)
