Biography
The unfortunate 'Painted Prince' was a richly tattooed man from the Philippines who was kidnapped in the South Seas by the explorer William Dampier circa 1690 who brought him to England in 1691, where he was exhibited in the capital publicly and privately, only to die of smallpox in Oxford the following year.
