From the collection of Carl Alexander Anselm Freiherr von Hügel. One of the earliest dated objects in the Philippine Collection in the Museum. "This dates from the period between the establishment of a separate "Ethnographic Cabinet" within the Imperial HIstory Cabinet Collection in 1806 and the creation of an Anthropological-Ethnographic Department in the New Natural History Museum in 1876." The object is one of fourteen from the Philippines that was a part of the Asian Pacific Collection of Hugel, assembled between 1830-1836 and acquired by the Museum in 1839. (Feest: 2009:3)
