Igem - Blaan sleeping Mat

Īgem SILEL

The mat is more particularly called Igem Silel, which is made from fiber of sago palm leaves.The dye color used is  turmeric from a  tree locally named ‘lageh’ Sanbangkil is a type of mat that uses different colors.  
Material used is SILEL (Sago palm leaves which belongs to a palm tree)

Sleeping mat made of buri palm leaf. Design in black.
Made of strips of sago palm leaves. Such mats, spread on the floor, serve as beds. Blaan. Southern Central Mindanao, Philippine Islands. Robert F. Cummings Expedition. F. C. Cole, Collector.

Field Museum Catalogue Number: 129492 (Note: all instances of either B'laan, Bilaan or Bila-an in the Mapping Database have been changed to Blaan after specific requests from the Blaan of Sarangani Province June 2022. This would differ from the terminology in the original record, which is considered derogatory by the Blaan.)
