Figure (Bul-ul)

Inventory number SA 31370
Male Bul-ul figure with human hair on his head and possibly layers of blood patina from sacrificial rituals. Round holes were pierced in the ears, on which the ritual priest (Mumbaki) placed ears of rice during the harvest rituals. The base was shaped like an Ifugao rice pound. Probably comes from the west of the Ifugao area. Text: Prof. Dr. Leah E. Abayao, Cordillera Studies Center, UP Baguio.
