Figure

Inventory number: SA 35765
Wood figure in Menschengestalt. The collector identifies this object as "Ahnenfigur huguhug". Huguhug is marked, however, the stone is used over the firewood, which is used to dry fire wood and rice or grain. The figures include the Kinabbigat wooden figures in Dörfern in Ifugao. In some villages in the heart of the Ifugao region, the growing class of Kinabbigat is placed in their homes. The figure is used to support the roof as well as the roof of the house. The name Kinabbigat was probably derived from Kabbigat, the god of travel in central Ifugao. Text: Prof. Dr. Leah E. Abayao, Cordillera Studies Center, UP Baguio. Collection: Roll; 2958
