Loin cloth (Wanoh)

Fabric panel made in chain rep weave, gray-brown, with narrow red and yellow stripes through warp threads, and a central stripe in chain ikat with human figures in white on yellow. At each of the two narrow ends there is a twisted cross band in yellow and red using the insertion technique, the threads of which run out as fringes. At the two ends of the loincloth, the warp threads also run out into fringes, which have not yet been cut in this piece. With the Ifugao, the loincloth is tightly wrapped around the waist, the two ends hanging loosely down to the knees at the front and back; they are sometimes tucked into the loincloth to protect them during dirty work (Vanoverbergh 1929: 201)
