Pañuelo (Kerchief)

Yellowish or cream colored fabric. In the center a crown and openwork cartouche with some initials surrounded by a circular border of flowers with many petals and leaves. Facing corners has ribbons that spiral with flowers and pearls. the borders of the handkerchief is rectangular with flowers and pebbles. Except for the central circle, the entire handkerchief is openwork with a reticular spike. Embroidered with satin stitch, freeform satin stitch, scallop and openwork with a variety of stitches and cord stiches.

Other objects in the Collection: Inventory numbers 21376, 21378-21382 and 21385 are "Nipis", vegetable fiber handkerchiefs from the Philippines.
